Where is Beat Drop located?

We are located at 850 4 St SE, Calgary, AB T2G 0L8, Studio Bell - Home of the National Music Centre

When is Beat Drop open?

How old do I have to be to attend classes?

You must be 8 years old to attend our kids program and 13 or over to take any of our evening courses. Our students currently are between 13 & 60 years old. To attend our Summer Camps you must be between 8 -16 years old.

What class/classes should I take?

We offer a variety of courses focused on DJing & music production geared towards all skill levels. If you are not sure which courses or workshops are right for you, we suggest making an appointment to come and talk with one of our staff or simply give us a call and we can discuss your needs over the phone.

Is there an application process?

Yes. Please hit the apply button and fill out a short application form. We will be in touch with you and setup a time to discuss your education goals. 

 What do I need to bring to class?

In most cases all you need to bring to class is a pair of headphones, a memory stick for your work & a notebook & pen, or your laptop to take notes. Please review our prerequisites for each program.

Is Beat Drop an accredited post secondary school?

We are not accredited & not affiliated with any government organizations.  We are currently a private Ableton certified educational facility.

What kind of jobs can I get in the music industry and does Beat Drop help me get one?

Beat Drop does not guarantee jobs for our graduates. The music industry and its sub industries are constantly changing. We teach how artists and musicians can create a career and how money is made in the music and music production industries.

What payment plan options are available?

Payment plans are available for Producer & all individual 24 hour courses. Payment plan info is available. Please email us.

Are there student loans available through Beat Drop?

As a private school we cannot offer student loans through the province. We have a detailed information sheet that we recommend taking into your local bank branch and using for a line of credit application. We can help walk you through this process.

 

CLASS SCHEDULES

When are the semesters?

We have 3 semesters. A Fall semester that starts in September, a Winter semester that starts in January, and a Spring semester that starts in April.

What times do classes run?

Our classes currently run evenings Monday through Thursday. Classes run for 2 hours and start either at 6:00 pm or 8:15 pm depending on the class. We also run different workshops and community events, check out our events page here

Are there any weekend courses?

We currently don’t offer any regularly schedules courses on weekends, but do offer our monthly Ableton Live Quick Start course 1 Saturday a month as well as various other workshops.

What are the instructors qualifications?

All of our instructors are hand picked working DJs and/or Musicians who make a living by making music and/or performing in some way. We believe that the hands on experience that our instructors have is invaluable, and that the knowledge they have from working in their various fields of the music business and their ability to effectively communicate qualify them to teach our students.

Do you offer private lessons?

Unfortunately not at this time.

 

ENROLLED STUDENTS

What do I need to bring to class?

Your laptop and headphones are a must. We also suggest bringing a note pad or laptop to take notes & a memory stick for your work.

Can I change my schedule?

Any schedule changes are subject to class capacity. Please email us.

What happens if I miss a class?

Attending class is your responsibility. If you miss a class and would like to make it up you can schedule a private lesson with your instructor, if and when your instructor is available for private lessons. Private lesson cost applies. Please contact your instructor and the Beat Drop Administrator to set up a make-up lesson.
